About the Program
Are you an adult student (21+), a teacher, or a retired educator looking for a meaningful experience abroad?
The Amici Americani English Language Initiative (AAELI) has launched an English language program for children in our small Italian town. Teaching English is a volunteer position available during May, June, July, August, and September 2026. Volunteers will be assigned a small group of five children to teach or tutor for two weeks, three hours per day, Monday through Friday.
As a volunteer, there is a service fee that covers transportation, accommodation, and food provided in the refrigerator. Food is an essential part of life in Abruzzo, and you will also have the opportunity to cook with a nonna (Italian grandmother).
The program director, Dr. Blake, will document the students’ learning experience and guide you every step of the way. You will also have the chance to explore the area and connect with locals as part of your own cultural immersion experience. At the end of your service, you will receive a letter or Certificate of Participation.
