Through Casa d' Arte initiative, we invite adult learners from all fields to immerse themselves in an authentic Italian experience, connecting with the local communities in beautiful Abruzzo.
“Viva Italiano" is a two-week cultural immersion program in the green region of Italy and all of Europe. We invite adult learners to experience life in rural Abruzzo. Far from the crowds of mainstream tourism, this program offers hands-on experiences that connect learners to Italy’s heritage, traditions, and daily rhythms through food, language, art, and community.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This immersive cultural exploration offers participants rich insight into life in rural Abruzzo, Italy. From learning basic Italian and engaging in everyday activities with villagers to exploring historical sites, visiting local businesses, and participating in a traditional activity, learners gain a deeper cultural understanding. Volunteer opportunities and direct interactions with artisans further enhance their awareness of community challenges and sustainable practices in small Italian villages. The program concludes with a creative final project, allowing students to synthesize their experiences and contribute a meaningful expression of learning to the host community.
This program operates in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals for Global Educators. Its aim is to equip individuals with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to address global challenges and contribute to a more sustainable and equitable world. By engaging with diverse communities, the course fosters a sense of global citizenship and shared responsibility.

This learning experience fosters mutual understanding and appreciation between two cultures. By exploring Abruzzese life, participants help support the local economies of the villages they visit. In return, they gain a wealth of knowledge about rural Italian life, learning to adapt to new cultures, communicate beyond words, and navigate cultural challenges. Their presence also inspires the region’s aging population, as learners share their discoveries through digital display boards showcasing what they’ve learned.
By the end of this program, participants will be able to demonstrate enhanced cultural understanding, creativity, and personal growth through active engagement with local communities, businesses, and cultural heritage sites. They will apply the insights gained to their field of study, personal interests, or professional development, and confidently share their projects with the community.

Note: Group size is limited to a maximum of 14 individuals. It is recommended that reservations be made at least 6 months in advance.
Throughout the program, students will gain firsthand insight into the diverse fabric of Italian life and enterprise. Visits to small family-owned farms and artisanal ventures will highlight traditional practices and craftsmanship, while tours of medium-sized enterprises and large export-oriented companies will reveal how local businesses operate within the global economy. The hospitality sector will provide perspective on Italy’s vibrant service culture. Complementing these economic experiences, excursions to local museums, Romanesque cathedrals, and medieval castles will immerse students in the region’s rich history and artistic legacy. Finally, time spent exploring Majella National Park will connect them with the natural environment, underscoring the balance between cultural heritage, community life, and environmental stewardship.
Participants will be invited to create and present a thoughtful and expressive final project at Casa d' Arte. Upon successful completion of the course, they will also receive a Certificate of Completion.
