Teaching English in Italy (2026)

Are you an adult student (21+), a teacher, or a retired educator looking for a meaningful experience in Italy?

The Amici Americani English Language Initiative (AAELI) has launched an English language program for children and adults in our small Italian town. Teaching English is a volunteer position available during May, June, July, August, and September 2026. Volunteers will be assigned an individual to teach or tutor for two weeks, one hour a day, Monday-Wednesday.

As a volunteer, there is a cost that covers transportation from Rome to Abruzzo, accommodation, and food & drinks provided in the refrigerator. You will also have the opportunity to cook with 

a nonna (Italian grandmother). You won't have a problem learning a few Italian words.

The program director, Dr. Blake, will document the students’ learning experience and guide you every step of the way. You will also have the chance to explore the area and connect with locals as part of your own cultural immersion experience. At the end of your service, you will receive a letter or Certificate of Participation.
